Jamila Cafe’s Nasi Lemak Review

Jamila Cafe's Nasi Lemak Review, 5.0 out of 5 based on 1 rating

On Friday morning, I had been to a new place beside HSBC, the financial district to get a pack of nasi lemak for my breakfast. I get to know about this place when I was chatting with friend when I have my breakfast in Amy Nasi Lemak Jalan Kelawei I have never been there before, but I know that there are column of food stall along the junction. Here is what I seen when I arrived.

Dining environment Jamila Cafe Beside HSBC Customer queuing for the tomato rice

From the picture, you can see that there are a lot of customer queue for something! Some thing special is it? Well, I thought this is the place where I will have my breakfast. Eventually, I was wrong. All of them are queuing for nasi tomato which sells next to Jamila Café. The actual Jamila Café look like this.

Here is my quest for better nasi lemak and how Jamila café look like. They are the first stall in the column of stall. That why you can see their address is Gerai (stall) No. 1. The nasi lemak is pre-packed and place on top of the table.

You can just grab a pack of it and a spoon, you are ready to rock. You can see that they have different marking on the banana leaf, normally; this is how we decode it. It has different topping ingredient based on the marking.

BT – stand for Bilis and Telur (fried anchovies and egg)
I – stand for ikan (fish)
A- stand for Ayam (chicken)

The environment

This stretch / column of stall is actually located between HSBC building and Royal bank of Scotland. From the first picture on the top, you can see that the stall is arranged on the left and the dining table setting on the right. This only left around 2-3 feet for us to walking along the corridor. Upon there is customer queue there, traffic jam occur!!

The dinning condition is just like mamak stall, you just can’t complain about the cleanness of the place as it will never be cleaned. You will need to just accept it. One thing that you might interest to know is; this place is windy. You will feel cool even there are no fan. This place is isolated from sun and the wind is kept on coming. You will be surprise that how comfortable is the place is.

How does the food taste?

Here is what I order…. nasi lemak and Teh tarik !!  This is the breakfast set that consume by most Malaysian which you must try.

I have ordered the BT version of it. It  sold at RM1.50 per pack.  What you get is some rice that topped with fried anchovies sambal and a quarter of boiled egg. Below picture is the close up view of it.

The rice is kind of dry and hard, you can actually bite on every single pc of rice that available. The fried anchovy’s sambal is spicy. You will definitely need a cup of The Tarik to accompany you when you dine there for breakfast.

Jamila cafe ‘s nasi lemak does not match with my personal preferences.  I am still preferred the Amy Nasi Lemak Jalan Kelawei  Amy version has softer rice and sweeter sambal, and it come with some fried anchovies which bring up the overall taste.
