I like chili sauce as it increase the taste of the food and it brings excitement to it. But chili sauce which sold in Malaysia is not that hot. Actually, it is kind of little bit sweet and it is kind of disappointed. Recently, I found this chili sauce which made by Sin Tai Hing branded as “Taste Me” in Tesco which caught my attention. Here is how it looks like.
It is called as “sos cili padi” in Malay. In English, it is knows as Chili Pepper Sauce. The main ingredient is bird’s eye chili off course. This Chili pepper sauce is definitely hotter than ordinary chili sauce. I believe, the manufacturing has added some sugar into the normal sauce to suite general taste of Malaysian.
What is bird’s eye chili?
Bird’s eye chili pepper is also known as Thai chili pepper. It is origin from the species of Capsicum Annuum. The bird’s eye chili plant is a perennial with small, tapering fruits, often 2–3, at a node. The fruits are very pungent. The flowers are greenish white or yellowish white. According to the Scoville scale, bird’s eye pepper chili rating is range from 50k to 100k SHU. It actually sit at the lower level of Scoville scale. What does this mean? Does it mean it is not hot?
It is definitely hot! Seriously, I like to eat spicy food! But, this sauce is definitely hotter than what you expected! This chili pepper sauce is definitely my choice of selection. I would rate it at the top Hot of my personal scale. The rating of bird’s eye is just 1/20 or 5% hot when compare to world hottest chili which is Trinidad Moruga Scorpion. It has a crazy Scoville scale of 2 million SHU. I don’t think I will try the world hottest chili pepper.
How Taste Me Chili Pepper sauce look like?
Here is the actual “taste me” product look like. The bottle is kind of smaller when compare to ordinary chili sauce. Net weight is ~ 180g and it is made in Malaysia!
Front view of the bottle is basically label as Taste Me Sos cili padi. It has Chinese label of “辣使你 辣椒酱”. It just simply means “made you hot till death!”. Interesting is it! You can see the bottle is half full as I have consumed some to it during lunch. It really makes me hot, till nearly death. ha ha…. Once you tried it, you will love it.
The back view simply talks about the ingredient. It uses reverse osmosis water, bird’s eye chili, garlic, sugar, salt, vinegar, citric acid (E330), stabilizer (E415), permitted food conditioner, flavor enhancer (E621) and preservative (sodium Benzoate/E211). It does not tell you what is the percentage is used…. too bad. Beside the ingredients, there is also a “Halal” logo on the label which tells that this product is certified for Muslim uses.
